According to the American Optometric Association, babies should have their first exam around 6 months of age. This is a time to check that eyes are developing normally, checking for signs of near or farsightedness, lazy eye, crossed eyes or severe cases such as cancer. IU School of Optometry Community Outreach (IUSOCO)
The IU School of Optometry Commuity Outreach Program or IUSOCO provides access to vision health care services for the medically underserved. At the Indianapolis Eye Care Center, glasses and medically necessary contact lenses are provided to qualified patients at a reduced rate.
